Another Bridge, NFAC entry and a red-headed visitor ~ Here's another aceo painting of the New River Gorge Bridge...I've been on a roll with these and this is my fourth one painted from our trip to West Virginia last month. The technical illustration class I took waay back in college sure came in handy when I did this one.

The theme for this month's ebay nibblefest contest is 'rivers and trees'. One of my favorite themes! I painted this one and called it The Peek-a-Boo Tree. It's 5 x 7 inches, acrylics and charcoal pencil on watercolor paper.

Wow, my husband took a picture of this red-headed visitor early this morning. We have these huge woodpeckers which like to visit the two pine trees in our front yard and it looks like he was resting before his climb up the tree.

Is the bride painting a small one? You did a really nice job with it. I really feel the haziness of the forest.

Lynnie, you constantly astound me with your artwork! I love both of these. The bridge painting looks exactly like the photograph you took, no wait - even better!

Love you little Woody Woodpecker! He's adorable.

The bridge painting is just awesome! I love the way the bridge 'fades' into the trees. Thank you for showing us!

Hmm, hard if I have to choose a favorite. They're such different styles - but I guess that's what you like to do? I like the tree trunk for it's brightness and wildnees. I love the serene, and peaceful scene of the bridge. How's that?

Amazing,,,that bridge! Even down to the shadow,,,and in that small space!
I'd say that class has more than paid for itself, probably many times over!
And I love the one with the tree,,,the colors are so 'just right' perfect!
We get these woodpeckers at the lake,,,is this guy big? We've seen a couple that were about 2 ft. tall!
Talk about noisy,,,sounds like a jackhammer!

The bride is outstanding but the peek-a-boo tree caught my eye the most.

Thanks Janet, yes that bridge is a small painting, aceo size.
Hey Kate, wow thanks so much!
Thanks so much Jeanette, I appreciate the nice words. All thos pumpkins were painted over several years so I guess I did morph into some different styles.
Thanks Babs, I remember that class was hard. We had to use all these little templates and a drafting table. Those woodpeckers are so huge and you're right they are really loud too.
Hi Angela, thanks so much and hugs back atcha!

I do love your knarled looking tree!
Peek a boo indeed! Very scary on a darkened night.

Great bridge painting too.

I bet those wood peckers make quite a racket once they get going.

What a wonderful view - the bridge- and what a wonderful way to capture a memory - your painting.
Another heads up to you Lynette - Kate and Mim's books are on their way to you tomorrow - so keep an eye out for those. NOW, I am out of books!

The bridge painting captured the eerie and cool atmosphere of the early morning. It is in perfect contrast to the intense and striking movement projected by your tree set against a background of sunset.
