Area 63 ~ What a crazy title for these paintings and it just sort of popped in my head. This is a triptych and they are both 5 x 7 acrylics on watercolor paper. I'm blaming the weird title on the fact that my husband downloaded the google earth program the other day. I've been virtually traveling all over the globe the last few days...what a mind-boggling program! I even walked in the neighborhood in Louisville, KY that I grew up in and saw the old house that I lived in as a child. I hate to tell my age here, (OK I'm turning 55 in less than a week LOL) but the last time I saw this house in person was about 40 years ago and I was so surprised that it's still there! My dad had turned the house into apartments when we lived there in the '60's. The story I heard as a child was that an artist had lived there at the turn of the century and she had a studio way up in the attic. I always thought that was fascinating and it may have been one of the influences which turned me towards making art! Talk about a blast from the past!

Lynette, this is so cool! I haven't played with that program...probably because I know I will also get sucked into it and do not have the time for that right now. :) I know I would be going back to all those old neighborhoods we have lived, too.
These are really cool paintings...love the tree influence to be sure.
Thanks Lynette!
Aah Lynnie, these paintings are so imaginative! I want to climb right up those little ladders into your treehouse with you, have a cup,,,contemplate the world.
Love the house you're showing here, I'd love to live in one just like it,,,sigh,,,days gone by. We've been all over with that site too, it really IS a blast!
Oh, and I love the story about the artist in the attic,,fascinating!
And it is a true Lynette title!

What a quaint and lovely little house! I didn't know Google Earth would let you see things so well. I thought it was all overhead, satellite shots. I will have to see if I can revisit my childhood house. I can see why this house would have good memories for you.
I'm really going to have to try your style of painting trees. They always look so fun. I want to climb these. Mayby I can see your little house from the top of one.
That's a sweet childhood home, Lynette. And "Area 63" suits these paintings--they depict a mysterious area uncovered by you. And only you.
Thanks Kim and the google earth was fun the first couple days, ha I even 'traveled' to Florence, Italy!
Babs, thank you! I hadn't seen that house and neighborhood in 40 years. It was amazing to see it still standing! I thought that was cool about the artist in the attic too!
Katie Jane, there is a street level view, that really blew my mind!
Thank you for the nice words San!
I love your triptych- have not seen many in watercolor (more in oil). Definitely like to keep up with your art. Visit me sometime (my paintings are sprinkled in my blog posts) cheers.
