Well I went buggy this weekend and started a 'Bugs of abstraction' series. Here's "Bug 1" and "Bug 2" and the third one I am still working on and it is starting to look like a coccoon so far. These are little art squared paintings and they are each 4x4 inches wide and they are acrylics on 140 lb. watercolor paper.

I forgot to add, I love the second one, the close up and the rich red splashes of colour in the blue.

Wow thanks so much for your nice comments Alfreda! I kind of went 'buggy' this weekend LOL! I don't like them in person but I like to paint them :)

Thanks Terri! If I paint any more bugs I think I'm going to try for some pretty bugs like butterflies or something. I'm not even sure why I painted spiders, eeeek! :) LOL!

Hey, Lynette!

Well, I made it back from another foray into the sideroads of Texas! It didn't get above the low 80s, and was overcast about half the day. Lucky me! I shot a ton of pics! Even some strange, zombie-like cows!!!

Anyway, I wanted to come back and have a look at your spiders.

They're wonderful -- more like ruby spider jewelry! I don't know how you can paint all of this detail on such a tiny surface. I can't imagine being steady enough to do such a thing! They have a kind of filigree look.

Lovely work, Lynette!

Love your buggies Lynette!

LOL thank you Flo! I may do some more buggies this weekend. Since my red flowering shrub by the living room window bloomed, it is full of bright yellow butterflies and bumblebees and hummingbird moths, they are so fun to watch as they gather their nectar. My cat was lying on the back of the couch today eyeing them through the window and pretending she was getting ready to pounce on them even though there was glass between them LOL!
