Drake's Creek ~ I was so glad to get back home from our trip last night! Aargh that last couple of hundred miles seems to last forever and when it's 100 degrees outside even the AC in the vehicle feels sort of weak to cool a person off. It takes about 12 hours to drive from central Virginia to south central Kentucky where my Mom and lots of my family live. Everyone was doing really well and we enjoyed our visit so much! My sister and her family had an awesome cookout on Sunday evening with homemade chocolate ice cream for dessert, it was all yummy! On Sunday morning, we drove to an old creek we used to live near and it looked so beautiful. Every time I visit I always feel drawn to the ancient cool green mystery of that old creek. It's called Drake's Creek but it's simply known as 'the ford' because it was so shallow (except during floods and that's another story :o) that people could drive across the creek to the road on the other side. Here are some photos I got of it this weekend. The water is very clear and splashes over what looks like zillions of creekrocks and strange fossils.

I love the close up of the river bed. It is like looking at the bones of the earth and I almost want to touch it. Glad you are home safe and had a wonderful time.

It sounds like you had a wonderful trip! Vacations are odd, I'm so happy to go on one and am always sad to see it end too. But then, I can't get home fast enough!

I really like your middle photograph!

Thanks fennymun I was glad to get back. We were so tired after that looong drive. We saw some gorgeous scenery of the mountains and I'll share some more pics in here soon. Hi Alfreda and thanks so much.."bones of the earth" that is an awesome description and fits so well! Thanks Cyn! I almost had the camera touching the water in that 2nd pic. I love those creek rocks. There are some really neat shaped rocks in there and if you try to walk barefoot in the water it's torture unless your feet are very tough LOL!

Took me a bit to see that the second photo was a reflection of the sky. At first it looked like melting ice. Lived up north too long, I guess. Very cool pic.

Ha Jan you are right it does look like ice because of the reflected blue of the sky but it was so hot that day that I had sweat running in my eyes. I felt like getting in the water LOL.
