'Thoughts of Liberty' ~ The second painting in my second to last post doesn't exist anymore. I was going to add just a little more to it but got carried away! Eventually I saw what looked like the Statue of Liberty appearing in there so I went with it...where did that come from?! Have you ever done a painting and something appear that you had not planned or even thought about till it just appeared in your painting? This one is currently listed for auction on E-bay.

Cool! It looks like it is in the middle of water. I'd be amazed if anything showed up in my art!! I'm sure it happens a lot though with others.

Interesting. Wondering when to stop must be a big challenge in painting abstracts.

Wow, Lynette, I think this happy accident took you down the right path!

This piece has an eerie, post-apocalyptic look and feel. Pink seems such an innocent color -- until it becomes a malevolent shroud for a world-wide wasteland.

Yikes -- love it!

I was just thinking about this very thing. Sometimes we keep pushing and pushing because we feel like something else has to be added. I think the true genius happens when you let go and recognize when to switch gears, just as you did with this.

Wow thanks for the wonderful and inspiring words Terri, m.o.i. Janet, W.J., Cynthia!! This was a 'happy accident' because I just turned loose on this one and I was happy with the results even though it was a surprise to me LOL! It is a challenge to know when to stop sometimes.

I agree with Cynthia, art happens when you let it happen, not when you try to make it happen ;-)

Great painting!

Yes Flo and Cyn I definitely agree...sometimes the best art comes when you stop worrying about every little stroke and dot and just let it happen! It can really surprise you sometimes!

Wow.... I really like this! Beautiful work!

(But no, things rarely appear in my work, because jewelry isn't abstract :D)

I've actually added a bunch of ACEOs to my Etsy store, and I'd love your opinion on them. You can see them in my store or I'll be posting pictures in my blog in the next few days too.

I see hope, it is lovely, people fighting the odds and there is the lady waiting to greet them.

Oh thank you ShyViolet, I remember the exquisite beauty of your jewelry and I am going to check out your aceo's now. Sorry I've been so darn busy with my 'other' job I haven't had time hardly to even look at my blog this week, that's why I'm late replying.
Hey JB, thank you and darn if I know why I painted her but she just sort of snuck in there LOL so I went with her!
