'SONGS FROM THE SWAMP' 1 & 2' ~ ...frustration and trying to paint when you just can't seem to get in the mood ~ arrrgh well I think for me the mood has to be right and I probably painted about 5 or 6 layers over these 2 little paintings before I felt like they were starting to work! After I got aggravated and smeared some of the paint down I saw a swamp setting and then said to myself, "aha" now I'm starting to see where they are going! Anyways these are both ACEO size (acrylics on 140 lb. watercolor paper'. I hope everyone is doing well and having fun with art tonight!

Wow thanks so much J.B. I got really aggravated when painting these and it took several layers of detail and color but they stayed in the 'doodoo' stage for too long!
Thanks so so much for the kind words Babs! I was afraid my colors were going to turn into mud the way there were looking LOL!

It looks like the smearing really worked.

Hehe thanks Janet! After I smeared the paint down from the trees it reminded me of the spanish moss stuff which is so pretty. I remember seeing that stuff in the trees when we drove down to Florida. They have some really cool and exotic looking flora way down there and I would love to travel down that way to see it again.

Beautiful works! Emotions I find are what often bring paintings to life. ;) GREAT WORK! Thanks for sharing them with us!

Love the title! I'm assuming you title them after they are finished...same as I do with poems and stories since I never know what it's really about until I'm done.
