'Whirlpool' 11 x 14 x 1 1/2 inches acrylics on stretched canvasThis is crazy, but it actually took me longer to paint this tiny ACEO than it did to paint the larger painting! I had ordered a box of pre-stretched canvases from Cheap Joe's a while back and they've been sitting in the floor unused ever since. They are 11 x 14 inches and 1 1/2 inches deep. I kept putting off trying to paint on them because I was so scared of messing them up. I am so used to painting the small ACEOs size ones. Anyways, last night I grabbed one of the large stretched canvas out of the box and with both feet, or both hands I should say, and my largest brush I tackled one of them. I was actually kind of happy with the way it turned out but I may tweak it some more though before I varnish it and call it finished.

Lynette! You should be happy with the way both of these have turned out! Wow! You know I love your trees and this is no exception, but I do adore your "blue" work! It is wonderful. Don't be shy about the canvases...if you use acrylics and don't like it, you can just paint over what you have done! I keep thinking about you painting on those small pieces and wonder how you do it! I am so glad you decided to go with the canvas, too. Show us the tweakings...

Thanks Kim! I get really 'into' the tiny details and have been known to buy some pointy toothpicks to put in the dots of color LOL! I buy the tiniest brush I can find but the point always gets messed up somehow. I'm thinking of trying another big canvas tonight, that was fun.

Lynette, my son does some modeling and also gets into that tiny detail. He has the same issue with the brushes. I have found some squeezy bottles with different tips and they might work for your tiny bits. I used to do a lot of very detailed work, but my poor hands have just decided I needed to give that up...age, I think :)

Back when I was painting, I think the aceos did take longer. A small canvas is so exacting.
