The Aviary" ~ This is acrylics on yupo paper and it's 8 1/2 x 11 inches. My husband gave me an idea it was about birds because it was pure abstraction to me. He said I should title it "Which came first the chicken, the egg or rush hour traffic?" :)
Wow thanks so much Terri, Alfreda, and Cynthia. I have the hardest time doing abstracts but doing them on yupo paper seems to make it work better. Thanks again! :)
Thanks W.J. I think the next time my husband suggest a title, I'll plug my ears and go "nananana I can't hear you!" LOL Ick I wasn't thinking of blood and squashed birds when I painted it, I think I will rename it something else that has nothing to do with birds! :)
I love the pale blue in the background... After seeing the piece and reading "rush hour traffic" I started to feel it like riding in the car during a heavy rainstorm... The turn signals, the brake lights, the shadowy rushing traffic around you... Very active piece!
Thanks Alfreda. Boy I have a really hard time doing abstracts sometimes but it seems somehow easier on yupo paper because of the smoothness of the paper. Hello Joyce, wow thank you so much. I love the idea of rain on a windshield! Thank you!
Hello and thanks for visiting! I've been painting and drawing for many years. I graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and I've always enjoyed creating art! I'm fascinated with trees, growing up in Kentucky and living in Virginia for over 20 years! I love the outdoors and enjoy painting it!

Beautiful!
this is really really nice. I think the bits of black make it really interesting and add depth.
Oh My! I love this. There is so much going on. I have to go back and look at the painting some more.

Hm, I don't see the 'bird' reference, either, Lynette. But, you know guys have their own reality! Nice abstract!

I can't do abstracts at all, you pulled it off and beautifully.

the rippling blue is like the sheets of rain on the glass... I can imagine the pounding swishing windshield wipers. Very cool!
