Another photo of the spectacular Dutch Gap Conservation Area ~ Oh I want to get a telephoto zoom lens so bad. We saw some black birds with the most intense color of red on their wings but I couldn't get a photo of them. I am wondering if they are red-winged blackbirds. My hubby spotted them first then we saw several of them perching in the marsh. Here is another of the photos I got with the Dominion power company in the far distance. I wish I had an audio recording of the frogs singing. When we first got out of the car I thought music was playing somewhere till I realized it was thousands of frogs singing in the marsh! Awesome place!

Thanks Terri. It was so strange to see the huge marsh and the stacks of the big power plant off in the distance it was almost like something out of a Science Fiction movie!

I would have loved to have heard all those frogs. I can imagine what a strange scene it was, the noise, the sky, the power plant.

When I lived in Maine, I loved visiting the marsh! Needless to say, there's not much wetlands here in Colorado. I would love to hear the frogs singing.

Wonderful photo!

Whew I must be tired tonight I had to delete my own post cause it was full of typos. :) I'll try again: Thanks Alfreda and Cynthia. There must have been thousands of frogs down there singing and it was very musical. The water was also full of turtles. I can't wait to go back there again. What a really strange and eerie place! This time I want to get some photos closer to the water.

Well, that's really all you have to say to make me wish I were there! What a great place to spend some quality "back-to-nature" time!

The power plant seems kinda close though -- did you spot any two-headed frogs?

Ha W.J. I thought that was weird too! Like something out of a strange sci-fi scene to look out over acres of low marshy ground and see power plant stacks in the distance. No it was all very clean looking! No 2-headed frogs but there were probably some singing out there in the marsh! :))))
