HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY! ~ Here's a photo of me own great-great grandfather, John Yadon, taken somewhere in the mid 1800's. Check out those cool glasses and walking stick! His own g-g (I hope I counted the g's right) grandfather, Joseph Preston Yadon, came from Down County, Ireland (born in 1756) and was a drummer boy during the Revolutionary War, fighting for America's freedom. To make a long story short, he ended up staying in America, married and settled in Tennessee. Here's a photo of Joseph Yadon's gravesite and I'm so proud and glad he decided to call America home! I hope everyone is wearing some green today, if not *pinch* *pinch* :) :)

YADON, that's a surname I have never come across in my genealogy hunts. I'm happy that you have his history and photos passed down to your family.
I have ancestors from County Kerry and County Londonderry.
Happy St. Patrick's Day to you, Lynette

Heey Chewy, you have a little bit 'o the green in you too! I remember you had a post in your blog a while back with photos of some ancestors, it's a fun and fascinating thing to delve into. I wouldn't have known about my g-g-grandpa except for my Dad's cousin who had copies made of that picture and did a bunch of research on it. That is an unusual name and was my grandma's maiden name. Thanks and Happy St. Patrick's Day to you too!
Hi Jeannette, thanks it's fun and sort of like being a detective to find old ancestors and who they were married too. Happy St. Patrick's Day to you too!

Wow, Lynette, how awesome to be so in touch with your roots! I have virtually NO knowledge of any family history (beyond my maternal grandparents) which is a shame, indeed.

Hope you had a Happy St. Paddy's, and thanks for sharing a bit of your family tree!

Wendy, have you done a google search on your last name? I found a lot of info just doing that and it's fun too, you can pretend to be a detective. I hope you had a great St. Paddy's Day too!
