The page I made for Kate's sketchbook and...

... and pages reversed (how it looks in the mirror)

Another Girlfriend's Traveling Sketchbook Page is Done ~ Yea, I finished the page for Kate's book last night! Check out Kate's inspiring blog at Kate's Corner. The theme for her book is 'I believe' and the pages in her book so far are looking incredible! I went with 'I believe in imagination and I believe in dreams'. I had found an abstract acrylic painting on watercolor paper that I had worked on a while back and I worked on it some more to finish it up. I cut the painting into two sections and collaged these on the pages, painted in gold and silver acrylics, along with some 'backwards' writing. I love writing backwards, it exercises the right side of your brain. It's even trickier to read but easy if you hold it up to a mirror. Kate, I hope you will like your page and thanks for starting the traveling sketchbooks project, it's been so much fun! Also, there's a tiny gemstone hidden somewhere on the two pages. I hope everyone is having a great weekend! It's starting to look like fall here and boy do I miss swimming in the pool. I guess I'm going to have to open the plug to drain it and store it till next summer...it's back to the treadmill for exercise, blah.

Lynnie, you're just full of surprises! This backward writing boggles my head,,,I can't imagine doing it.
Your painting itself is outstanding, and as always has inspired me! I'm working on Sketchbook pages today too,,and I need a healthy dose of your imagination!
(I think I spotted the gem too)
Beautiful, creative art Lynn!
Standing ovation,,,see me?

Awwwww thanks so much Babs!! That backwards writing is so fun, I used to practice doing that and thought it would be neat to add to Kate's card since it was about imagination. Try it, just visualize doing it in your mind before getting the pencil, it's not as hard as you'de think. Have a great weekend me dear friend!

Lynette, this is so perfect for me! I do so love what you have done, and how clever you are with that backward writing! I don't think I can see the gem yet, so I will wait until I see the pages in person. Thank you so much.

Kate, I'm so happy that you like your page!! The little gemstone is sparkly when you move it in the light. Also the gold/silver paint around the paintings didn't show up too good in my photos. Thanks Kate and I'm glad you like it!

Lynn, I have never written backward before! You are just amazing. :)

Thank you my dear friend Fenny... Writing backwards comes pretty easy if you just visualize it in your mind first before putting pen to paper. Now the really hard one to do is writing upside down and backwards at the same time. I was able to do it years ago but it was really tricky to do.

wow, this looks brilliant - it would also be amazing as a huge painting!

A brilliant contribution to the collaboration!

Writing backwards to exercise the right brain--I am going to try this. My whole brain could use a little limbering.

It's very striking. a real abstracted embodiment of "I believe". The bold red color and the spiral concentric movement all contributed to further boost the intensity of your work.
