Hot Ice and Spice ~ I know, what a weird title! I couldn't think of a good title for this so I guess I'll stick with it unless I can think of something better. I was getting tired of painting pink trees and just grabbed this piece of 7 x 9 inch, 140 lb. watercolor paper and painted this one fairly fast last night. You'll probably laugh when I tell how I made the outlines of the 'ice cubes'. I took the top off of an old tube of lipstick and dipped it in paint to stamp them on. Then today I made a wash of the pearl iridescent paint and painted the inside of the cubes! Fun, fun!

Hey Lynette - nice paintings, both of them. I do like the abstract one and can tell that you really let loose and had some fun.
Lynette! Are you really tired of pink trees? I bet they are good sellers for you, though! I like the pearls on this one!
Now I really like your fire and ice...I know it is hot spice, not fire, right?... You probably know I love the tension in this one! What a great idea to use the lipstick tube to do the ice...then adding the pearl wash. It works quite well! I like it when you just cut loose, too.
You keep painting, girl! I think you have a lot to say here!
Thank you so much for sharing with us!
I like your technique. They really do look like ice cubes.
Gosh, I could grab those ice cubes and use in my iced tea,,they look so real!
Don't you just love the experimenting? This worked out great!!!
Thanks Cyn, I did have fun with that one. Congrats on getting your new blog up and running! I need to fix my link to you blog too.
Thanks Kim, I guess I am getting a little tired of the pink trees LOL and painting something with a more 'dark' feeling now.
Janet I think that pearly paint seemed to make them look like ice, along with the shapes. Thanks!
Heyy Babs, thanks and I'm glad you're back from the lake, missed ya! Yum, I love iced tea!
Lynette, this makes me smile cause I know these sort of attacks, when you get tired painting something and just run wild with colours!
Both are great, the pink tree with its elaborate details and great contrasting colours and the quick, nervous, fire-glazing paint with lipstickcover print:)
Have a wonderful day
Andrea
I saw some of your fresh trees thru a link from cestandrea...
